  • The Frank Skinner Show (series 3) returned to BBC1 in April for an eight week run.

  • The Frank Skinner Christmas Show, broadcast on Christmas Eve, featured guest appearances from Spice Girl Mel C, Aled Jones and a UK exclusive interview with former Bill Clinton lover, Gennifer Flowers.

  • Frank won Rear Of The Year in November.

  • Frank Skinner Live in Birmingham was released in October. The show was recorded on Frank’s 100 date 1997 UK Tour. This special release features un-broadcastable original material that could never be shown on TV.

  • In July Fantasy Football League transferred to ITV for the 1998 Football World Cup and for the first time ever was broadcast live four times a week. The 16 x 30min series was broadcast every other day throughout France ‘98 with ratings topping 6.5 million.

  • Two thirds of fans surveyed on the Carling Premier League Net site, voted for Three Lions as their first choice to be the official England World Cup theme in June.

  • David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds recorded a new version of the song for World Cup ’98 - featuring updated lyrics written by Frank and David and a real Wembley crowd singing “It’s coming home” from Euro ’96. The video includes guest cameo appearances from Geoff Hurst, Chris Evans and Robbie Williams.

  • Frank Skinner said “Hearing Three Lions being sung by fans at Wembley was the best moment of my life.”

  • Three Lions resided at the number one spot for 6 weeks selling 1.2 million copies.

  • Frank returned to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his self-titled debut solo show.  The event was described as one of the best shows at this years festival, The Daily Recordand was nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award.

  • Frank co-wrote and co-presented The Alphabet Show for digital channel PlayUK, alongside Lauren Laverne.

  • Frank appeared on Gas, Channel 4’s stand-up comedy show.
